"I'm not sure," he gave in a murmered reply. "I've never cared before. I really wouldn't know."
"However... I highly doubt many people would miss me if I left. Honestly-- I think... I think that I still could care less. If you'd asked me yesterday, I'd have said, or thought of saying that life was simply fun and games. Now I realize that there may be a purpose in this life anyway..."
He took the hand she'd lain on his cheek, examined it a moment, then bent his head slightly, placing a kiss on the back of that graced hand.
A playful wink then left him before he dropped her hand and stood straight again.
"Perhaps my purpose is to protect you, nay?" he asked in a teasing voice.
But that voice had been somewhat and some how affected by Shieg's words. Whereas it would have been normally fully teasing, it now held a hint of somberness, and something inside him was made sad.

Sheig gave him an award-winning look af caring, letting her hand stay in his a few moments longer before tugging it back to herself,
"You can pledge all you like, my friend, but lets face it, it will most likely be me who ends up saving you when you come to the rescue!"
she smiled warmly and placed a friendl kiss on his left cheek,
"I am so glad my nightmare didnt couse you to wake! I hope there isnt another storm... even if there isnt I wish I could find a way to keep myself from those nightmares... heavens help me if I end up being the reason for Aricin to die from lack of sleep."
She glanced over at the upper table, where she could see the elven lord, her elven lord, talking to Dima. Her eyes twinkled with that inner warmth that only those who she where very close two where graced to see.
"Oh well.. not much I can do..."

Kalmyr continued to gaze at her with that same semi-playful expression a moment. But her kiss on his cheek had obviously affected him, however the way he showed this was not quite clear through the way his eyes simply glinted a moment, then faded back to their original deep blue-green.
He took her hand in his again, pulling both of them closer to his body again and holding them near his chest. He opened his mouth as if to say something.
But light footsteps interupted him just as he took a step towards her.
He dropped Shieg's hands and stepped backwards again almost irately, leaning once more, cooly, against the railing.
The white-blonde haired Laralen, hair pulled up in a loose bun at the back of her head, peeked her head around the corner.
"Kalmyr?" she asked softly just as the man collapsed against the railing. "This is where you got off to. We were starting to worry about you back at the table."
"Worrying about me, no? Ha! Wondering where I was, perhaps, but worrying?"
"Well... I was. Will you come back in?"
"No. Not right now at least. Can't you see I'm already engaged in conversation, Laralen?"
The girl placed hands on hips rather stubornly, looking him over with an odd expression before turning to Shieg with a cocked brow.

Sheig stood, stunned for a moment, then offered a gracious smile to Laralen,
"Hello. Im sheyliyah, wonderful to meet you. At the risk of sounding infinatly rude, do you mind if you could lend us a few moments? Kalmyr and I where just discussing somthing rather important and of imeadiate attentions..."
still looking utterly innocent, she gestured to the casual Kalmyr, inwardly suppressing three urges:
One: Run away really really fast
Two: Snog this guys face off
Three: Go snog Aricin infront of the entire population
The thrid was the most enticing of the three, and she let herself play with thoughts about how that little fiasco would turn out...

"Well, Sheyliyah... And your risk went through as rude, but I suppose I'll live. For a... few minutes...." She paused, crossing her arms now. "Breakfast will be over soon... I'll retrieve you when--"
"Laralen, please. We'll--or I'll come back in when I'm ready. No need to retrieve me. I'm a big boy, I can take care of myself."
Laralen simply sighed, rolled her eyes, and walked back into the dining room.
"Just because she's from the higher race doesn't mean-- Oh, who am I kidding," Kalmyr murmered angrily, massaging his face in much the way Aricin would have.

Sheig noticed how distraught Kalmyr had gotten, rubbing his head as if he had a headache. Even though it tastefully reminded her of Aricin, ((by heaven Ive made her snog-happy!)) she leaned forward a tapped him in the chest.
"Kalmyr..."
Her voice had a int of warning to it, a question and a warning. 'tell em now what you where about to do before that freak comes back or ill force it out of you'.
Basically what she meant with that tone.

But he ignored the tone. Instead of saying anything, he simply gazed at her with a stubborn expression.
But was it stubbornness or simple determination not to let her know how he felt that kept him from saying anything about it, despite her warning tone.
Perhaps it was both...

Her face fell when he did not speak. She dropped her fake "Im Angry" additude to show how frightened and slightly concerned she was.
"... I dont... know what to say... please, tell me what that was, just then. What did... why...?"
If anyone had the capacity to look utterly lost it was Sheig in this moment.

His brows furrowed suddenly and he gazed at her with an almost sad expression.
"Are you that blind, Shieg?" he asked softly, gazing at her with that sad, curious expression on his face. "Are you so blind as to believe that... Or, as to not catch that..."
He sighed softly, shaking his head, then turning back to face out over the lands again.
"You too, hm? You too think me uncapable of love of the type..."

"No! no, dont even think it! I know you can love, and I saw it I was just... scared. I am scared."
Tears welled in her golden eyes and she collapsed into Kalmyrs chest, salty streams trikling down her face, she whimpered,
"The first time in my life somone loves me and I can't love them back... oh, Kalmyr, it hurts... it hurts so much... I dont waant to be the couse of anyones pain, and now I have Aricin freaking out becouse he cares not for me and now you... the first preson Ive ever had actually care for me that way and I cant feel that way to you becouse Im tied down to him...
And he cant even try...."
She held her friend close, for her comfort, for his comfort, may the heavens dim any that saw such a tradjic moment and be kind enough to shove up up their elvish behinds.

He breathed heavily as he held the young woman close to himself. And he was so tempted to lift her head, to kiss her lips-- that was what he usually would have done. That was how he'd always acted before.
But he'd never loved before.
All the other times it had been simply for fun. Yes, those were his past mistakes. But this was different...
He pulled her over more to the edge of the balcony so that there was no chance of someone seeing them.
With this he placed a gentle kiss on her cheek, continuing to hold her close to him, rocking back and forth a bit in a comforting manner.

"oooh... its not fare Kalmyr! its not fare...."
she let herself be rocked, looking utterly distressed and miserable. Utterly miserable. It wasnt fare....
"I love him so much but that one thing is hurting him... the only emotion Ihave for him and its the one that causes him pain! and now this..."
She whimpered,
"What hurts the most is that I know that if I didnt love him so goddess be mad much, I would have had the capacity to care for yu as you do me....
But as it is... it seems we are both to suffer..."

He let out another heavy sigh, continuing to hold her close, rocking her gently back and forth in that comforting embrace, cheek resting on the top of her head.
"It's not fare, you're right," he said softly... sadly.
"It's not at all fair, but we're both going to live. Neither of us is going to die because of this. Life goes on... And it's all going to be alright in the end. Everything's going to be okay."
He then pulled back again, placing his hands on her shoulders and holding her back from him.
"It's going to be okay... But breakfast ended several minutes ago. We should go..."

"Your right..."
She composed herself, wiping away tears and smiled brightly,
"Of course your right! everything will be fine. Now then... what to do today. I have no idea..."
Her emotions carefully masked behind th ebright and shiny personality. And the best thing was: the personality was real. It was just another part of ehrself, and she reasoned: 'I can be miserable or I can make the best of it'

Using a thumb, he wiped at her cheeks a bit himself, then smiled slightly. Oddly enough, a tear had not fallen from his own eyes.
"Yes... There's plenty to do around the citadel, if you just think a bit. Hmm..."
He thought a moment, then smiled slightly.
"Would you like to head for the training grounds at some point? Perhaps go for a bit of practice with the blades? I find it fun--though you might find someone as Dima a better opponent. He's the warrior of the group..."

"I Dont know how to use a sword. I use martial combat and... my claws. You should see them, they are quite impressive. A present from my parents.... Real lions paws, feet and front paws, the skin and fur, and your fingers fit into itsfingers and can use the claws..."
She smiled.
"Besides, Id rather watch. I dont want to make Dima cry when I whoop his arse."

At this, Kalmyr cocked a brow.
"Whoop Dima? Right. You've no idea about that fellow's fighting skills, my dear. He's the best shot with a bow in the citadel--and quite possibly the best with a blade. I highly doubt that even your lion's paws and claws could beat him."
He paused then, grinning again.
"And I'd be more than happy to help you with a blade, if you wished. It's quite a fun thing, once you get the hang of it. I'm afraid I'm not interested in finding any paws to stick my hands in, much less knowing where they are... But the blade and bow, I can help you with if you're interested."

She thought about it, remembering the last time she had tried to use a bow and the arrow ended up in Tiires butt. She giggled, poor Tiire couldent move for a week.
"Ive had a little practice with a bow..."
She remebered the flogging Tiire had good ehartedly given ehr, how they had both nearly fallen off a cliff in the process of their stumbling.
"But I think Im a bit safer with that than a sword, I dont want to slip and cut off one of your extremitys..."

"If you cut off any of my parts, one of your more necessary ones would be off-- your head if you're lucky. If not, an arm or leg, my dear."
He grinned again, and his tone cheered with the next words.
"Besides, I wouldn't let you cut anything off, my dear. But perhaps I'd better watch as Dima teaches you if you're afraid of slicing something of the teachers, no? He's more likely to dodge your blows.
"The only thing about learning your weapons in the citadel is that we don't have anything for training. Most places would give you a dull sword or arrows... But most tend to have a bit of a knack for it. You should catch onto both of them once you try."

She grinned and nodded enthusiastically,
"Well, wait just a moment, I havent been training in a while and Id like to get in some of my normal exercises, so Ill just run up to my room and grab my stuff ok? just wait ehre."
Sheig turned and bolted back up to her room, re-appearing a few moments later, looking utterly exotic with her "weapons" attached to foot and arm. She looked more like a large cat than a plains elf, just add a tail and ears....
"Alright, lets go.I have a question... Dima has been acting awfully strange scince last night... do you happen to know... why?"
