The soft clip-clop of hooves had walked along the road that stretched between kingdoms, between two different lives. The road was a bridge between peoples, a very vital route if one were to travel between such lands. The stallion, Caspian, did not mind, as he only went where his rider asked him to go. Caspian knew not of these new lands, and he only took faith in his rider that she knew where they were going. He didnt' like to be lost, at all.
"Hist Caspian, it's not like we're in the forest,"
The rider, a rather slim-built woman, said to her horse, in a cooing and soft tone to him. He answered with a snort, tossing his head and moving into a trot, his new shod hooves clattering against the road a bit louder. She chuckled as he went stubborn on her, soon slowing back to a walk as the two walked the road like wandering marketers. But no, she wasn't pitching anything. She was just wandering, wondering where the road would take her.
She halted Caspian as she couldtell his pace had slowed to a lumbering walk, and she dismounted. he must be a bit tired, so she would let him rest for a bit before they would head on. She loosened his saddle a bit and let the reins fall so he could be comfortable, and she sat on the side of the road, eyes wandering as Caspian had found a small patch of grass to graze on.

Wandering vaguely around here is a typical inhabitant of Anoria, though he doesn't specifically reside there, and nor has he for quite some time, it seems.
Kirratok, or Tok, has meandered from place to place for years now, though his youthful looks have not faded - mainly due to the slow aging process of his race - and his hair manages to exclude even the tiniest hints of grey. His eyes, the typical lavender of the Anors, are at current fixed upon the sky as he follows the rutted road, hands swinging limply by his sides. All of a sudden, he stops, not all that far away from the human and her horse, but still not close enough for her to have seen him - though she may well have heard his tuneless hummings and whistlings as he walks. With a wide yawn, and apparently for no good reason, he shifts.
Now sitting on the road is a large, long-haired black cat with lavender eyes, halfway through the yawn Tok had begun whilst still in his bipedic form. Shaking out his coat, he stands and continues on his way, now venturing onto that piece of grass which the stallion is grazing and sitting down once again. His reasons for shifting seem to be thus, as he curls up on the green stalks - it's easier to nap as a cat, and grass is softer than the road.

Hmm? A feline, on this road? Awefully peculiar. Caspian jumped as the cat had appeared before his eyes, the white stallion whinnying and backing away. He was obviously startled, frightened of an animal just popping in on his grazing grass. He was going to eat the grass that feline was laying on! Caspian drew forwards again to the feline, brushing white muzzle to the felin'es fur and snorting. Maybe this'll wake it up.
Morgaine could've sworn she'd heard humming! but from where? there was no soul around the road except her, Caspian, and....a cat?? What was a cat doing out here? She held back a gasp as she sat up a bit straighter, looking over the napping cat. She wanted to poke it or something. Anything to get it to wake up and go away. But, she wasn't that mean to animals.
"Well lookee there, a kitty on your grass Caspian,"
She said to her steed, smiling as she looked up to her horse. She pat his cannon a few times to check them over, before her eyes wandered back to the cat. When would it wake up?

At the feeling of the snort ruffling his thick fur, the feline's head rises, eyes blinking with irritation that he is woken so shortly after he had drifted off in the first place. Tail twitching slightly, he glances up and about, seeing first the predominating presence of the horse - already known to him, for he had seen the equine about to graze on his comfortable little spot before he managed to get there.
The other figure, a human woman by the looks of it, may be more useful to him. It is a shame that Tok always thinks in such a way as to give himself the easiest way through life, and though, in cat form, it would be more than easy for him to hunt for small rodents and the like in the grass around here, having a woman about, with a horse, seems a more likely way to be getting tasty morsels - and all the better for not having tiny bones in them.
Standing, and shaking himself off, he meows, looking up as sweetly as possible and walking towards the woman, purring loudly as he gets closer to her, rubbing up against her legs in a dreadfully trasnparent ploy to gain her affections in order that she might lend him a few tasty slices of dried meat, or some other such delicacy he's too lazy to fetch for himself.

Caspian got so jealous! How dare that cat move in on his Morgan! That cat was obviously trying to suck up to her, probably for scraps of food. He snorted as he moved to the cat, pushing the cat away with his muzzle and whinnying at it. Caspian then stood over Morgan, being a little bit overprotective.
"Hey hey now, be nice Caspian!"
She said, smacking him on the leg and getting up by holding onto his girth. She then looked back down to the cat, kneeling down to his level.
"Sorry boy, I've got no food you'd like. Unless you eat green food of course,"
She replied, smiling as she got up, reaching into a saddlebag and taking out a leaf off a smal lhead of lettuce she'd picked earlier. It was very ripe, a light green. It didn't match her eyes at all, but it sure appealed to Caspian. He turned around, trying to nip at the lettuce head and only getting a piece off of it.
"Caspian! greedy little bug,"
She yelled, kicking him softly in the stomach. He should know not to steal from her, as he could have al lthe grass and clovers he wanted if he didn't take any of her food. Well then, he just lost if snacking priviledges.

Unusually, Tok seems not to mind the horse pushing him over, and simply lies on his back, paws waving in the air, still purring as loudly as possible. He even continues when the woman produces even only some lettuce, not the kind of thing he appreciates at all, not even in his anorian form, lest there's nothing else to eat. It seems as though's now simply trying to annoy the stallion as much as possible, playing the kitten and batting gently at his muzzle whenever it comes low enough to feel the gentle pat-pat of his paws - claws sheathed, though.
Tok might be irritating and lazy, but he certainly isn't rude enough to stick those little pins into the sensitive nose of a horse. He knew a horse-shift once, and had pricked him in the nose, then had shifted back. He'd been kicked halfway across the market square.

Caspian snorted as he drew his muzzle away from the cat, not falling for his little cute trick with pawing him about. Caspian was a very jealous little beast, wel not LITTLE persay, but you get the point. He was like a brother with Morgaine, and he did not like other people trying to make friends with Morgan. Unless he knew they meant well, everyone was a no-no. Morgaine of course didn't care, as Caspian couldn't control her. After all, she was the rider of this pair.
She laughed as Caspian pulled away, watching as her stallion jumped away like a scared colt. He always seemed amusing to her when he went in odd moods, or else he got scared of little things. He's been this way since a young colt, when she'd watch the trainers break the colts and fillies that were to be gifts to magickers who'd completed their training. She also had him picked out since he was a colt, and she knew she would keep him.
Morgaine stood back up then, patting Caspian's chest before she looked to the cat yet again. It was odd, as all of a sudden she realized, the cat didn't have a normal aura of which cats had. t had a more magical aura. But she'd play along, as if the cat was only a shifted form, she'd make them change at some point.
"You've got an owner?"

Rolling back onto his stomach, the cat looks up at her, mewling softly, blinking his large lavender eyes twice before he stands. This horse was too much fun.
Darting after the stallion, he begins to wind himself around the equine's legs, rubbing up against his foreleg before darting back to Morgaine, and dropping to his seat once again, adding a further miaow to the conversation, head tilting to the side and almost appearing to smile, tail flicking ever so gently. He had, clearly, understood her, but he was now having a little joke that, perhaps, only he would realize. By rubbing his scent onto the horse, he had signified, not that he had an owner, but that he owned the horse. A childish jest and probably one the equine would understand, much to the Anor's delight.

Alright, he just about had it. If Morgaine wasn't there, he would've stomped on that cat by now, ending his life promptly. But no, he was going to be decent with Morgaine around. Caspian wouldn't be friendly with the cat, but if Morgaine decided to take the cat along with her he couldn't refuse.
She held onto Caspian's mane as she put away the remaining leaf of lettuce, sticking it tightly into the saddelbag. She then turned back around to the cat, sniffing a little bit as pollen had got to her nose, sneezing quietly before she walked over to the cat and leaning to its level, again.
"Well then, want to hang with us? Caspian won't mind you. I'll make sure of that,"
She said with a grin, reaching out to pat the cat's head.

That almost smile returns to his black bewhiskered muzzle, ears flattening back to allow her to pat his head more comfortably, his purr becoming louder and louder. He couldn't stay a cat much longer, that he knew, especially if he was to get anything to eat, even if it was only lettuce.
His pink tongue suddenly sticks out of his mouth, directly towards Caspian, though he covers this as neatly as possible by raising his foreleg and beginning to, very very carefully groom it. This pretence at keeping himself neat doesn't last long, and he sits back, looking up at Morgaine once again.

Caspian rolled his eyes and snorted, annoyed that this cat, of whom had just gotten in the picture, was getting all the attention, and he himself was getting nothing but negative attention from Morgaine. Maybe he should just stop being a sourpuss and stop messing with the cat. Maybe then he'd get the attention he loved from Morgaine. A hoof then pawed at the earth, the white stallion snorting once more before he looked down to the cat.
Morgaine chuckled a bit and reached behind the cat, scratching its shoulders gently before she pulled away. She then stood back up, walking over to Caspian and beginning to mount him.
"You wanna come with us?"
She asked the cat, looking back to it and smiling. She then pulled herself to sit on top of the saddle, situating herself before she awated to see if the cat would come along with them or not.

The cat watches her for a moment, then nods, miaowing his consent, and at the same time suddenly shifting back into his more standard form. In front of the woman and horse horse now stands a lanky, elf-like creature, his eyes the same delicate lavender shade as the cat's, his hair pulled back into a rough ponytail with a few chin-length strands dropping down in front of his face, fine eyebrows also the perfect raven-black he had been as a cat.
The miaow he had been previously emitting almost seems to continue, though it transforms, obviously, into a more human, deeper sound, that, however, still held a purring, meowling style to it. Grinning now, he bobs into a light bow of greeting, introducing himself formerly.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kirratok, or Tok, and I'd be glad to join you, for the moment, at least. And I must apologize to Caspian, he must know that I didn't mean it."

Caspian, obviously being startled, jumped backwards, whites of his eyes showing for a moment as he got freaked. He whinnied loudly, almost wanting to rear. But he knew that he shouldn't when Morgaine was on his back. Morgaine hd to put him down and whisper in his ear to calm, before the stallion finally stopped. Of course, Morgaine was startled as well, but who wouldn't if a cat suddenly turned into something totally different? She had to stay calm for Caspian, as two freaked souls were not very good together.
She finally had to pull his reins so he'd stop fidgeting, and promptly stopped, head still a bit high as he got used to the cat's new form. Morgaine had seen shifters before, but not ones that resembled elven folk.
"He's just a hissy boy, that's all. Tok, is it? I'm afraid I have no nickname, but you can call me Morgaine."

"A pleasure, Morgaine. Whereabouts is it you're headed for? I have no particular destination, but still, it'd be nice to know where we're going. I apologize if I startled you, as well," he adds quickly, suddenly realizing that shifting back and forth in front of those apparently not used to Anorians such as himself might not have been the most intelligent idea.

"To be honest, I have reck on where I'll be headed either. I tend to wander, and somehow I ended up in these parts,"
She said, grinning slightly. True, she'd wandered from the south, where sea meets land, all the way to here. After all, she did come from an island, off of the sea. Not an island off a stupid lake! An island that had to house apprentice mages couldn't be small, lake islands. They had to be grand, with vast terrain. But she was rambling, inside of her mind.
It was the life of a wanderer. You don't really have a hom,e you go from place to place, making sure you're fed and kept free of illness, socialize with a few people, then you leave. It'd been like this for five years for Morgaine, and she'd grown quite accustomed to such an independent life.
(no problemo... I'm sorta dead too. Got me a runny nose)

"Fair enough. If you don't ride too fast, I think I know a place that sells some decent warmed foodstuffs, if you're hungry, not far from here, and I could take you there. There's a couple of stalls around about there, it's not really a huge place though," he adds, shrugging slightly.
He, too, is a wanderer, though for different reasons than Morgaine. It is, incredibly, because of his laziness that he wanders. The trials of going to work seem, when he actually does work, to drain him so much that he used to get halfway home and then stop at some inn or kind persons home and stay there. Now, however, he has been doing this for so long that "home" seems like a distant concept, and it is almost unconceivable to him to stay in one place for too long, especially seeing as you can only loaf off one person for such a period of time before they notice.

"I think that'd work. besides, Caspian and I both need a little bit of rest from riding,"
She said, patting Caspian on the neck as she put the reins into one hand. She then ran hands down to his withers, before she grabbed the reins with both hands again. She never even dared to ride with one hand.
But, where was this place? She obviously wouldn't ride ahead if she didn't know where she was going. So, she'd have to force Caspian to walk, but that wouldn't be too card considering that her steed was tired. She clucked softly and had him walk, stopping at Tok's side.
"I think I'll follow you."

"Alright then," he replies, a vacant smile beginning to occupy his face as he starts to walk fowards up the hill in a confident, easy stride, almost immediately starting up with the tuneless humming which the pair had heard earlier, though then there was no body attatched to it.
Stopping this vacant, pointless noise for a moment, he looks up to the mounted human, "Do tell me if my humming irritates you. I don't really have the musical talents of some of my race." This is blatantly true, the hum varying in pitch here and there, and there being the odd actual snatch of some kind of recognizable tune sometimes, but it disappears just as soon as you thought you might have heard it.

"Although mindless humming shouldn't bother me, I'll make sure you know,"
Morgaine replied, glancing down for but a moment and then setting her eyes forward. Always supposed to look between the ears of a horse to know where you're going, as if you looked other ways, it'd go that way. She'd learned it the hard way when she'd ridden in the forest. she'd been looking at the trees, and Caspian had bumped into one of the exact trees she was looking at.
She'd never make the same mistake again. Her leg was bruise and battered for a week.

This hill road could be treacherous if it were dark, are the thoughts currently running through Tok's rather vacant, self-occupied brain as he continues the uphill trudge, glancing now and then at Morgaine and Caspian, though never for long enough that he might miss his footing.
The crest of this fold in the land is almost nigh, however, and this fact brings a brighter note to his previously fairly dull and almost grumbly humming as he clamboured upwards. The terrain is flattening now, and he idly pushes a strand of hair back from his face to tuck behind his ear.
"I think it's over that way, I might need to get my bearings, so you may need to hold on a moment."
