...and to return to the dinner celebrations straight away, Aricin entered the room and quickly pulled into a fresh tunic and slacks, cleverly the same colour as the previous ones. Hopefully no one would notice his slightly damp hair.
But what was the music? Was this-- Shieg singing? He'd not heard her sing as of yet, but he'd recognize that musical, bell-like sound anywhere.
He leaned out on his balcony, listening. Her room was of course on the second floor, just below and to the right of his. Resting his elbows on the rail, he hung his head, eyes closed, and listened as her voice floated up to him on the gentle breeze.

He could not see her, by any means. But he still heard her. And heard her with pleasure. Yes-- this was indeed Shieg's voice singing, now that he got a chance to listen for a few minutes longer.
He started his own song-- first a gentle humming, which mounted to a song in a soft, slightly deep voice.
And he did so without the thought that she might be able to hear him, as he did her. He did it without though to anyone hearing-- only the thought of hearing it himself. And he sang to no one in particular-- at least no one that would hear him...
"Be still Let your hand melt into mine The part of me That breathes when you breathe Is losing time I can't find the words to say I'll never say goodbye
And I'll fly with you Through the night so you know I'm not letting go I'm not letting go Tears like rain fill up the sky Oh my love I'm not letting go I won't let you go
I observed a host of silent angels Waiting on their own Knowing that all the promises Of faith come alive When you see home Hold still and let your Hand melt into mine
Shed your heart and your breath And your pain and fly Now your alive..."

He listened to this next song with a bit of an odd mix of emotions.
Shieg, you fool girl… How can you do this to me, dear child? You’re trying to capture something that simply cannot be yours? Why must you keep attempting the impossible? My dear girl, I love you dearly already in just the short time we’ve known each other, barely an hour’s time, but not in that way! And you simply cannot try to make me! Ah, my dear, you are going to drive me insane if you’re not careful. I have a feeling that you can hear me quite perfectly, so why are you doing this? You simply cannot keep it up, my dear…
"All her wants to fill a need She wants to save you with Her bandages after she makes You bleed Like a vampire, a parasite Stretch the necks of her victims She finds her prey in broad Daylight So when you're up, she's down You're down, she's up It whips around, it's the ride The way that she needs it
Whatever she wanted For whatever you need Speechless and silent While she takes everything..."

Aricin had retreated to his room in silence, visited only once by a rather annoyed Dima, who berated his suspiciously for about ten minutes-- then left as abruptly as he'd come, and still in full anger and suspicion. Nothing Aricin had said could soothe the emotions.
All Dima had wanted was for the lord not to 'fall for the girl,’ despite how marvelous a person she might be. She was too young, and he had other priorities than her. Remember the love you have, lord Aricin!
Aricin had then pulled out of his tunic and made his way promptly out onto the balcony, leaning over the side, head hanging as the first drops of water from the coming storm began to fall. It comforted him, washing over his form as he stood there and the rain began to fall harder. Who knew exactly how long he stood there, looking over the deserted plains of the citadel?
All he knew was that an eternity later, he heard Shieg’s screams through the pouring, pounding rain that wracked his body, soaking him from head to toe.
Dear girl, what is it that resides inside you, causing the darkness and loneliness to hurt you so? Ah, it hurts me to hear you scream—though I doubt any others do through this rain and their sleep...
“Dear Shieg… Shall I come comfort you? Through your dreams?” he muttered softly, gazing up at the dark sky, feeling the cold, hard drops fall violently over his face. How he loved the rain… The thunder and the lightning pounding out from the heavens above…

When she seemed to fall silent for a bit, he listened more carefully—for a reason he couldn’t seem to quite find in himself—and found that she was not silent, but weeping once more. He again pursed his lips as he listened, closing his eyes sadly as the sound now would not seem to go away. He felt so sorry for the girl—not pity, but certainly felt bad for her…
Sighing, he stepped back into the room, closed the doors to the balcony, and wiped the water from the floor with his tunics he’d had to strip of. He then took hold of a hand towel, began to dry his hair a bit as his thoughts overcame him.
Dear Shieg…
As soon as his body and hair were no longer dripping and he’d changed into dry slacks once again, he began to make his way down the hallway. He didn’t bother to place another tunic about himself as it seemed rather pointless. No one would be walking in the hallways at this time and over in this area of the stronghold—and he hoped not to wake Shieg. So he really had no priority to be modest, only to attempt at comforting the girl, at least a bit. Perhaps his presense in the room would calm her.
