"Rest. Natural. Of course, he grumbled, shaking his head with a roll of his eyes while he continued to smile slightly.
He sat up, removing his feet from their position, but remained sitting up in the chair to relax as he gazed at her. "So you're feeling better, I trust."

"Yes, and thank-you. You really shouldent worry about me, I know the Mother will allways protect me, until it is my time to leave this world."
She giggled, a thought suddenly piercing her mind. Sheig sidled up the bed, until she was sitting upon the windowsill, opening it halfway so a breeze could get through. Her chestnut brown face became quite serious.
"You never met Tiire, did you?"
She asked, burnashed gold eyes seeking out his.
"I was jsut thinking... if she ever talked about her past at all. Me and her, we went back a long way. It would sadden me to think that perhaps... even her Lover did not know anything about her."

"I knew her of course... But not well," he mummered softly, chin rested thoughtfully in his hand as his blue-green eyes misted over.
"He knew, of course, that she was half drow... And knew where she grew up, and that she was a general of sorts. But not about you. There were only little tidbits, never more. Never a full account of the past. Maybe a mention or two of you, but you weren't named."
With that, he smiled sadly.
"I... don't suppose I would call them true lovers either though... Oh, Silas... He wanted to be. But she simply wouldn't stay around long enough for anything to happen. Every time he thought she was satisfied, she was gone again. Upsetting, you can imagine, but maybe... Well, no, I won't say it was for the best. Look where it got both of them."
He sighed, scratched his forehead, and glanced back up at the dark skinned elf and gave another of those sad, crooked, but charming smiles.
"I just hope for all our sakes that we can learn from that, no?"

The pretty elf-girl smiled back, pairing his charming crooked one with a kindly tilted rose-bud smile. She giggled. Always the goodhearted one, always laughing at something. This time a happy memory.
Upon first appearance in this elven citadel, she appeared to the courtly elves as clumsy, airheaded, and probably not very bright, seeming as she knew slim to nothing about court-life. But she wasnt, really... sure, a little clumsy, but if given a lute, she could play a melody better than most. As for being an airhead... well, an impression left by many, but in reality it was a flase accusation. She was merely... happy.
If there was one thing she was best at... that was probably understanding people. Tiire had been terrible at interpretating people, she had been MADE for the battlefield, and that was something Sehig had understood.
"She was always the trapped animal. There was nothign for her but the road... no life but the life of a mercenary."
Her eyes softened fondly, legs pulled up to her chest as she enwrapped her arms around them. A soft chuckle filtered through her lips.
"And always suspicious of everythign and everyone! ah... she was my dearest friend. Sad for Silas... from what I have heard of him, and what I have seen of this place, he seemed the type that would like to get married, have children, and die at an old age in his sleep.
Tiire would have rather been hung by her toe and pecked at by carrion crows than have that happen."

"This is... understandable, I suppose. Honestly, I wish she had at least allowed him to... travel with her or something. You see? He wanted to be with her, and would have gladly done anything for her. Even if it meant giving up life here. But, to stand up for him, she never would let him know exactly what was going on."
He sighed again, shaking his head slightly, and then allowed that sad smile to return again. "Anyway... How about you, Shieg? Would you rather die some horrible death than be wed and settle down with children? Are you a caged bird waiting to get out? I already know you're happy with people..."
Indeed he did. He knew well that she was very afraid of being alone. But that did not vex him. He didn't mind at all. Would that work to his advantage? Now he did not want to catch her where she was weak, and use that, but he did so wish to hold her as his own. Again, his thoughts fled to the fact that Aricin would be leaving the next day...

"No, I love it here! its beautiful. Wonderful, actually... youd think due to my ancestry Id yearn for wide open spaces but..."
She wasnt sure how to explain it. For some, it might have been easy, but it had always been hard for her to describe things, even if she completely understtod them. Its that whole distance from the brain to the mouth wherein it gets a little muddled.
"I love beauty more than space. As long as I dont have to wear shoes, I could spend my life here."

"Well I don't see why you would ever be forced to wear shoes in this land, m'dear. As long as you're comfortable walking through the woods barefoot on occasion that you would walk thither, I don't believe anyone would attempt to stop you."
His grin became a more teasing one. He had nodded lightly to her explanation, understanding fully, and now was content to remain silent a few moments. Until he thought to probably tell her of Aricin's journey.
"Aricin leaves tomorrow for Anoria. He should be gone for... several days. Do you have anything in mind that you might like to do whilst he is gone? Perhaps we'll have time to get to know eachother better."
There, he'd come right out and said it. She had stated right out though, that if she was not tied down to Aricin, if she were not near him, she might be able to love he himself, Kalmyr, who had made so many mistakes, and now was attempting with all he was worth to fix them.
But if he managed to win her, would she remain with him when the elven Lord returned?

Sheig looked awestruck,
"Anhoria? rheally?"
her head lifted from her knees. the moment was lost however, when she nervously lowered her head again, scratched at it as if trying to remember a map or something, and chuckled unknowingly, eyes closed,
"Uhrk... wahts an Anhoria? eh... sohrry... I rheally don'te know muhch about this sihde of the mounta'in."

"Anoria, the home of the Anorians, otherwise known as the Anor... The shapeshifting race that is otherwise much like we elves, but for that odd ability and their lavendar eyes."
He closed his eyes slightly, brows furrowed as if to name more of these people--something that was needed, and he could not do. That was it. Purple eyes, shapeshifters, elf like. Oh yes, and their age...
"They do age a bit slower than even we elves, as well. Take Dima's love interest for example, she's older than Aricin... But appears to be but a girl, maybe seventeen or eighteen. Ah, you saw her at dinner. The one you thought to be so lovely?" He smiled slightly, then bowed his head, searching for something to say.
"Anyway, he should be gone... well around ten days, I suppose. Two days or so there, at a near full run, and back, it all depends on how he decides to push the horses and how long negotiations there take. None of know exactly what this is for, perhaps just another courtly visit, who knows. It could take as many as twenty days if he decides to keep the citadel in the hands of Erados and Dima for a while. And as few as he can make it if trouble arises or he doesn't quite trust the two for some reason."

"Oh! yes, I remember her. The most beautiful eyes I have ever layed my eyes upon. Dima is very lucky."
She didnt seem perterbed that Aricin was leaving for an express period of time. Her eyes strayed out the window, enjoying the scent of lavender drifting through the open device.
"Im sure the fresh air will do him good. Really... my first impression of Aricin was sadness."
Her brows creased slightly in thought,
"I hope he finds a way to smile more often. You know, happiness is a real blessing."
She cast Kalmyr a fond smile, leaning back more casually on the sill.
"Is there anything important happening tonight?"

"Dinner, which you, or anyone, would be hard pressed to make me miss," he teased, grinning lightly after a moment of considering her former words.
"Aricin... has a bit of an interesting past. Not so sure about it myself, don't think anyone is...
But, well, nothing interesting is happening. As to dinner, food can be snatched from the kitchens beforehand if you planned otherwise? That is all of importance, if you would speak of it so. Why do you ask?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing really! I was just wondering.... actually, in truth, I was hoping I could wear a pretty elvish dress agaain..."
She smiled sheepishly, shrugging her slim shoulders. although she could never permanently confine herself to ccourtly life, the savage absolutly adored the elvish clothing she had seen adorned by those around her. Nothing would have brightened her eveneing more than being able to dance once more in a pretty new dress.

This comment called for a laugh from the fellow, who responded by indeed chuckling softly, then cleared his throat, brushing a few sun-bleached blonde strands of hair from his bright eyes as he did so.
"And I'm sure we would all love to see you in some fine elvish attire again," he responded after a moment, flashing a quick wink. "I speak for all of them, but to speak for myself, I know that I would. Then again, your beauty shines regardless, now doesn't it?"

"You aer far to much of a flatterer, Kalmyr. Surely I am not all that pretty compared to all the women here! I have seen them, and they are all so very lovely. The purple eyed girl, the... elf woman I met in the forest..."
She held up her calloused hands,
"Surely I could not compare to that!"

Kalmyr's reaction to this was surprisingly daring. He stood from his chair and moved to the bed until he knelt afront the plains elf, snatching her hands out of the air before holding them delicately in front of himself, thumbs caressing her palms lightly.
Yes, a daring movement for even Kalmyr, who seemed quite impeturbed by this fact, if he noticed it at all.
"Ah, but my dear Shieg, surely you are, and you most certainly could and do compare. You hold as much beauty as any of them, and so much more. A few calluses hold naught against that."
His smile held firm as he gazed at her a moment, then adjusted his legs to a more comfortable position, seemingly unaware that he was ruffling the blankets as he did so, raised to eye level with her on the high bed, startling teal-coloured eyes meeting directly and unashamedly with hers.

Sheig looked slightly startled, but unperterbed by his movements. At the elf's words, the plains elf tilted her head to the side ( a feat that made it seem as if her hair where singing a soft melody) and offered a soft gentle smile, tightening and loosening her grip on his thumbs in a smooth movement,
"You are very sweet Kalmyr, truely! You make me feel like I am drowning for that was such a weighty compliment!"
She giggled, wiggling her toes in a slightly girlish way.
"Are you always so flirty with your female friends?"

"Kalmyr, flirtatious? Never," he stated innocently, taking hold of her and pulling her form across his lap playfully. "Not since you came along, at least?"
He had suddenly become quite a bit more extrovert than he had been before, and so much more daring, though his mood was playful, and not too incredibly philanderous... not too incredibly. It might have seemed that the knowledge that he would have her alone to himself for a few days while Aricin was gone had made him a good bit more daring that he had been aforehand, and he tweaked he chin with his thumb playfully before releasing his hold on her as freedom to do what she would from the present position he had pulled her to.

Sheig slid uncomfortably off his lap, and stood standing upon the floor. She shook her head,
"Ne, Kalmyr, whatever Ideas you have, Id advise you not to try and go through with them. You are very kind, but I dont feel that you and I...."
She paused, gesturing to the air in search for the word,
"I dont feel you and I 'click'. Exactly.... ehm. Im sorry. I know that the one that is being chased will be infinatly more happy than the one thats doing the chasing in the game of love, but whatever this is... I feel that I must ut an end to it now."

No--wait! He had only been jesting at that moment, only playing. That was what friends did, was it not? Then again, every time he had 'played' beforehand, it had ended up something different, but this time--this time he meant it as lightly as he had spoken, had been teasing her, playing with her... Oh, she was a foolish little girl, wasn't she? But he could not blame her.
"Shieg--wait, Shieg, I was jesting, really... Come here, sit down... Please, Shieg, I didn't mean to--"
He swallowed painfully, brows furrowing. She had said it not a day before. "I want to love you... but I'm tied down..." Ah, a fool to play with a man's heart. But that was alright. He would live...
"I told you I would protect you, Shieg, and I'm here before you to do just that. But I would very much like to be friends at the same time. If you don't like my manners... I will do my best to change them, dear lady."
A memory escaped him suddenly, and his ocean-coloured eyes flitted to her left legas if his gaze could penetrate her clothing.
"How's that leg of yours doing?"

She deflated, sitting down upon the bed with a thump.
"Sorry bout that. I wasnt totally sure of what you meant when you wherr talking, and I really do tend to get cought up in my outbursts"
Great. Now he thinks Im stupid.
"My legs fine. Ive lived through worse!"
She offered a weak smile to the guy. It was true that she knew she had the ability to love this man... but not the will, nore the heart. She hated it, but it seemed, at this moment, that she was doomed to be smitten with Aricin for the rest of her life. However- she couldent even begin to imagine herself becoming jelous of any woman that might catch the lords eye. It wasnt in her nature.
"Phhht."
She blew a strand of hair out of her eyes.
"How bout I just take on a vow of silence? Im sure it would do the world some good."
((teehee, she always takes things so seriously ^-^ ))
