"Hawks are swift on the wing, I'll say to that..." Mevra ran a hand through her black hair and, oddly, bits of snow fell from it. She smirked a little at the appearance of the snow. She had reasons for calling herself a hawk.

" I would say elves are like cats
"And I would say that dusk falls quickly and a camp is in need." Maloin blurted as he stopped, chopping down some weak wood to burn.

"Elves might be like cats, but they've still got bunny ears."

"Here, kitty kitty kitty" Maloin mocked, " Want a carrot?" Falmar shook his head. "Dear father Rapunzel, don't burn your beard in the process," Falmar replied as Maloin was striking the flint.

"Sounds like a dumb question to ask a cat..." Mevra shook her head at the dwarf. She released Baron's reins and smirked as the deer gladly stepped away from her, eager to put plenty distance between them. "What's the matter Baron? Afraid I'll grab those lovely antlers of yours and give a nice hard tug?"

" I think he'd better fair a scratch behind the ears than a pull on the antlers, don't you?" Falmar dragged two logs around the fire to serve as benches, while he himself sat upon the ground stretching out one leg and watching the fire. Maloin plopped himself on one of these logs, considering it a service due since he built the fire.

"Well I might if he'd get over here." Mevra smirked at Baron.
Baron shook his head and backed further away.
"Aw, poor Bary don't trust me?"
Again Baron shook his head.
"Well then, whatever suits you. Don't come running to me later when it rains and you get mud all over you."

" Well, have you any stories for us, m'lady? Traditionally we must begin with the newcomer."
"Indeed," added Maloin, who lit a pipe"
"Oh, how can you breathe such vile air?"
"I would ask the same of elves drinking tea, lad. Only a good, hard beer could serve the purpose of a worthy drink, aye?"
"Oh, but my dear Locks, you've yet to try the rum."

"Stories...hmmm..." She leaned against a tree, crossing her arms and closing her eyes in thought. "Baron, what was that land we'd passed through? The one with that odd one for a ruler... Dragon's Keep was it?" She looked to the deer, receiving a nod in return. "Well, she was quite an odd one. Tempermental, yet frightened of many things, humans in peticular... but yet the silly girl would accuse us of being stupid. Just a cover up for her fear I suppose."
((That would be my other character, Minno, that she's talking about. One of my favorite characters, but she's caught up in a running plot so I'm using Mevra here.))

" I've never been there before." he commented, gazing over at Baron for no apparent reason, "Well, whose to go next, or have you any other?"

"That's about all I've got as far as stories go." Mevra thought a moment and laughed. "Though, I think I'll add that Minno, the ruler of Dragon's Keep, was afraid of water but not of heights. She was a shapeshifter, a kind of shapeshifter no one's likely to see around anymore."

"Oh? A shape-shifter? That's interesting" He mused over the Anorians for a moment.

"Either of you care to share a story?" She crossed her arms and sat down, still leaning against the tree. Both her and Baron stayed a good distance away from the fire.

Maloin only groaned, stil wishing to savor his pipe for another few moments before having to speak. Falmar took the opportunity. " I don't see why not. Let's see, what have I to tell?

Mevra crossed her arms and leaned agaisnt her knees, ready to listen to a story. "How about these lands?I wouldn't mind learning a bit more."

"To tell you the truth, there is little known about these lands. Anoria is a mystery in it's entirety. Avalbane is simply the last conjugation of elves. In these lads cultural diversity is scarce, save in Feoras, where every race has their ship. Port cities always belong to everyone." "I'll tell you a bit about Anoria, since that is where we are headed. The lands are lush and magnificent, full of wild perfumes and fruitful branches. There is a constant trickle of soothing, clear water upon the ears, and the main city is primarily cavernous, lit with sonces and such. Willows and other water-dwelling trees are common, as well.
As for the people of Anoria, they are absolutely astounding. They do not have a connection with the earth, as we elves do, but rather a strong link with animals. They have somehow obtained the power to shift into an animal, which is, strangely enough, transmitted from generation to generation, like a blood-magic.
They're eyes are always purple, and they shine a deep amaranthine in the night (instead of the lively yellow-green common to most animals.) They have only one shift, though, and it seemingly related to their character in some way. Only when they reach maturity can they shift, another natural wonder.
They like to paint their faces, though they are primarily civilized. I suppose it is a sort of desire to conceal themselves, as is often animal instinct. They are altogether a mystifying people..."
"Falmar, you are altogether a mystifying people yourself, but your race is a bit confused, I believe," commented the peanut gallery on the log, who had given his pipe a rest, " For instance, why do does one separate your race from the other, Elves and Faes, when the former is simply a larger version of the latter?" he paused to give a great laugh. The dwarves at home would have found him a comidian, whereas this company probably found no humor in his joke whatsoever. He became quiet and still as he resumed the smoking of his pipe. He was only a week away from Zelnokh and he already missed it. The longing was probably amplified by having an elf for a companion."

Mevra simply laughed at the dwarf. "Elves might be confused in your opinion, but I've heard quite the comments on dwarves. Low on brains, low in stature."
Baron sharpened his antlers loudly against a tree.
"Oh don't go adding your two cents!" Mevra scowled over at him. "None of that is important anyway, Bar, you know that much."
Baron turned to look at her and stamped a hoof on the ground.
"So? Can't tell me to watch my mouth there, you're not much better."

"Seeing as you're the opposite gender, we won'tget into humans, " he politely mumbles, then toddled of to set a sleeping quarter for himself.
"I don't think he'll be sharing any tales with us tonight..." Falmar said in a low voice as he played with the snow on the ground.
"It'll be could tonight, and we've no inn to stay at for a day or so...."

"Cold I can deal with!" Mevra sighed happily and relaxed back, glad of the cold air.
Baron too didn't seem to mind the cold one bit. Instead he seemed to be going off on his own, not straying far of course, just wandering off a ways to bat his antlers against tree branches.
"Keep that up, Baron, and you'll get yourself stuck."

"They'll come off eventually" he said softly, smiling at Baron. The sun now completely sunk under the horizon, and all that was left was a quick-fading spectral of color. Falmar's eyes fully reflected the radience of the soft pastels and bright neons melding together, his face taking on a honey-color, as did the snow. The fire was their only source of heat now.
